LOCMAN: all the latest news on display at VO Vintage
At the upcoming edition of VO Vintage (September 5-8), LOCMAN will present its new collections, the result of research into the brand's historical roots and cutting-edge technical solutions.
DECIMO CANTO AUTOMATIC
Alongside the first version of Decimo Canto with a manual Oisa1937 Made in Italy movement presented in 2023, Locman is launching a new version with an ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, a prestigious Swiss caliber that can be seen through the mineral glass set in the titanium case back. Particularly appreciated for its precision and reliability, the movement is also loved by enthusiasts for its slim profile, which makes it perfect for the most elegant watches.
The polished titanium case with three flanges of the Decimo Canto represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship and watchmaking technology for LOCMAN. It marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between Sandro Fratini, the world's greatest watch collector and founder of the L'O brand, Marco Mantovani, President of LOCMAN, and Professor Ugo Pancani, lecturer in mechanical watchmaking and trainer for the Foundation de la Haute Orologerie. It was Professor Pancani who, through his studies, traced the first references to mechanical watchmaking in the Divine Comedy, specifically in Canto X, in which Dante mentions monastic alarm clocks. The collection is dedicated to this discovery, which reveals the Italian origins of watchmaking, with the three steps of the bezel representing Dante's three canticles.
Small jewels of craftsmanship, the dials of Decimo Canto are made with semi-precious stones that emphasize the contemporary design of the case and make each watch exclusive thanks to unique designs and shades. Mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli, malachite, tiger's eye, red jasper, and turquoise give each dial a unique texture.
Decimo Canto is equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and is available with either a crocodile strap or a polished titanium bracelet.
XXIV CANTO CHRONOGRAPH
The synergy between Sandro Fratini, the world's most influential watch collector, and Marco Mantovani, president and founder of Locman, has also given rise to the XXIV Canto collection, the version with a hand-wound mechanical chronograph movement of which will be presented at Vicenzaoro in September 2025.
The XXIV Canto line pays homage to Dante's Divine Comedy and highlights the brand's all-Italian DNA. In addition to being a visionary tale of a journey into the afterlife, Dante's poem is also universally recognized as a detailed portrait of the customs and culture of the 14th century. This majestic work contains significant references to the existence of mechanical watches in Tuscany at that time, confirming that Italy is indeed a country with ancient watchmaking traditions. In the 24th Canto of Paradise, Dante compares the dance of the souls of the blessed to the movement of the gears of a mechanical watch.
The lightweight and durable 40 mm polished titanium case houses a Swiss-made Sellita SW510 manual automatic movement, renowned for its reliability and precision, visible through the black crystal set into the titanium case back secured by four screws.
Water-resistant to 10 atmospheres, the XXIV Cante case features a three-part structure: bezel, middle case, and screw-down case back. The dial is enclosed by a flange on which the tachymeter scale is marked, introduced in watchmaking in the 1920s, when being able to quickly and immediately measure speed on the wrist was crucial for the world of motor racing and aviation.
The flat section adjacent to the flange features a chemin de fer minute track (so called because it resembles railroad tracks), reminiscent of those once used on pocket watches. The Arabic numerals, extremely legible and with a light design reminiscent of watches from the past century, are displayed on a smooth, enameled surface, contrasting with the central decoration, characterized by guilloché workmanship, with classic geometric decoration that enhances the brightness of the dial. The dial is embellished with the stylized outline of a rudder, symbolizing the unbreakable bond between LOCMAN and the sea. The chronograph minute counter is positioned at 3 o'clock and the continuous seconds counter at 9 o'clock. A large scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal completes the watch.
SPORT SKELETON
From the 1990s to today, the Sport line has been one of the pillars of LOCMAN's identity. The characteristic tonneau case with rounded lines, cutting-edge materials, and colorful straps have made this model an international ambassador for the brand.
At Vicenzaoro September 2025, the watchmaker from the island of Elba unveils a new interpretation: the Sport Skeleton. The titanium case, water-resistant to 20 ATM, houses a Swiss-made skeleton movement. The caliber, visible through both the curved sapphire crystal protecting the dial and the transparent case back, offers a power reserve of between 60 and 72 hours, thanks to a bidirectional tungsten oscillating weight, treated with black PVD and customized by LOCMAN.
The dial echoes the aesthetic codes of the first Sport Tonneau, with contrasting finishes and boldly colored details on the minute track and seconds hand.
The straps, available in four colors, are made of Cordura, a soft, water-repellent, and extraordinarily durable fabric, paired with a natural leather lining for superior comfort.
Also available in a PVD Black version, the Sport Skeleton combines a bold, sporty design with a strong technical soul, reaffirming itself as a watch with character, dedicated to those seeking performance, aesthetics, and innovation.
